Notary FAQ: What to Bring & What to Expect

Answers to common questions about our mobile notary service in Frederick, Clarke, Warren, and Shenandoah Counties.

What ID do I need to bring?

Bring a current, unexpired government-issued photo ID acceptable to a Virginia notary, such as a driver’s license, state ID card, U.S. passport, or military ID. Not sure your ID qualifies? Contact us before your appointment.

Do you provide witnesses?

No. If your document requires witnesses, please bring your own. We do not provide witnesses.

Does the signer need to be there in person?

Yes. The signer must be present in person and able to communicate with the notary.

How much does it cost?

Up to $10 per notarial act, as set by Virginia Code § 47.1-19, plus a travel fee of $0.76 per mile, one-way from Stephens City. There are no other fees: no minimums, and no after-hours or rush fees. The travel estimator on our homepage gives an estimate for your address.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Where do you travel?

We’re based in Stephens City and travel to clients in Frederick County (Stephens City, Winchester, Middletown), Clarke County (Berryville, Boyce), Warren County (Front Royal), and Shenandoah County (Strasburg, Woodstock, Toms Brook, Edinburg, Mount Jackson, New Market). We come to homes, offices, hospitals, and care facilities.

Can you come to a hospital, nursing home, or assisted living facility?

Yes. We travel to hospitals and care facilities, including Winchester Medical Center, Warren Memorial Hospital, and Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. Facility visitor policies apply. See hospital and care facility visits for details.

What documents do you notarize?

Commonly notarized documents include powers of attorney, real estate deeds, affidavits, wills & trusts, medical directives, vehicle titles, contracts, adoption papers, court documents, business filings, and immigration forms.

Can you help me fill out my document or tell me which one I need?

No. We don’t give legal advice or suggestions about documents.

Are there services you don’t offer?

We don’t assist with apostilles or I-9 forms, and we don’t offer remote online notarization. All of our notarizations are done in person.
